Just heard that Gov. Mitt Romney has suspended his quest for the presidency!!!!! Here's an article from Townhall.com. Probably the most moving, eloquent speech of his presidential campaign was his swan song, announcing that he is not running for that office.
"If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington.
Now Sen. McCain faces the monumental task of convincing conservatives that he is the man of the hour. He can no longer play the wannabe liberal, since if the public wanted one in the White House, they can count on finding the genuine article in whoever wins the Democratic nomination. We may need to invoke the Eleventh Commandment, originated by Gaylord Parkinson and popularized by President Reagan: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."
