Cynthia McKinney's Conspiracy Theory of the Week

Cynthia McKinney says 5000 executed Katrina used as cover. (Unreal. Proof of Mental Illness.)
Newsvine | Sep 30, 2008

This article appeared in Free Republic and defies reality in that any self-respecting prison system will want to exploit its inmate population by keeping them alive - they're worth more that way.

Cynthia McKinney says 5000 executed Katrina used as cover. News Type: Event — Tue Sep 30, 2008

Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney [of the Green Party] announced for the first time on Sunday that she has received information that some 5000, mostly male, possibly prisoners were killed execution style, by single gunshot to the head, using the tragic events of hurricane Katrina as a cover.

Candidate McKinney made the announcement at a conference in Oakland, Ca, for the Critical Resistance 10 on Sunday. While speaking she informed the audience that she has received information from a sources that were involved in the clean-up and disposal of the thousands of bodies. According to the source; who wishes to remain nameless at this time, he was charged by the Department of Defense with the task of processing the personal information into DOD computers and then dumping the bodies into a Louisiana swamp. McKinney also claims she has spoken to unnamed members of the Red Cross that this event did in fact take place.

Presidential candidate McKinney reminds members of the audience that we need to continue to be diligent in our investigations of the "Prison Industrial Complex"....

Obama Shows His Hand - Suppression of Free Speech Begins NOW!

Sing, Rezko, Sing!

One can only imagine the consternation in the Obama campaign as his crony Tony Rezko starts talking with prosecutors in hopes of shortening his sentence. He knows much more about ex-Governor Blagojevich and Sen. Obama than has been made public to date.

People Are Dying to Get on This List

ForeignPolicy.com has come up with a list of 5 leading murder capitals around the world. Detroit, Baltimore, Bogota Colombia, and Rio de Janeiro Brazil are also in contention, of course.

City / Murder rate per 100,000 people
Caracas, Venezuela / 130
Cape Town, South Africa / 62
New Orleans, Louisiana, USA/ 67-95
Moscow, Russia / 9.6
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea/ 54

Here's what they had to say about Caracas under Hugo Chávez:

The capital of Chávez country, Caracas has become far more dangerous in recent years than any South American city, even beating out the once notorious Bogotá. What’s worse, the city’s official homicide statistics likely fall short of the mark because they omit prison-related murders as well as deaths that the state never gets around to properly “categorizing.” The numbers also don’t count those who died while “resisting arrest,” suggesting that Caracas’s cops—already known for their brutality against student protesters—might be cooking the books. Many have pointed the finger at El Presidente, whose government has failed to tackle the country’s rising rates of violent crime. In fact, since Chávez took over in 1998, Venezuela’s official homicide rate has climbed 67 percent—mostly due to increased drug and gang violence. Ramón Rodríguez Chacín, who recently resigned as interior minister, claimed in July that homicide has dropped 27 percent since January—but experts say he’s just playing with numbers. As for Caracas, some speculate that its murder rate is closer to 160 per 100,000.

House Balks at Bailout Bill

A Newsmax.com article said that the Senate's $700 billion bailout bill went down in flames in the House of Representatives. This rejection is not surprising in light of the fact that both houses of Congress know that this proposal is highly unpopular with the public. I agree with Rush Limbaugh, who said that this delay is not really a bad deal for the markets, as it's an indicator that our government will not act in undue haste in order to come up with a bill that President Bush can sign.

Caution: Hot Sauce Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

This story out of the UK makes me want to think twice before I challenge other people to eat something spicy (not just tangy, but sweat-inducing, eyeball popping, makes-your-life-flash-before-you HOT):

"Andrew Lee, 33, challenged his girlfriend’s brother to a contest to see who could eat the spiciest sauce that he could create.

"The fork-lift truck driver, who wanted to cook for a living, prepared a tomato sauce made with red chillies grown on his father’s allotment. After eating it, however, he suffered intense discomfort and itching. The following morning he was found dead, possibly after suffering a heart attack.

"Toxicology tests are being conducted to try to establish if he suffered a reaction to the food."

Breaking News: Paul Newman Dead at 83

The following article is from the CNN Wire:

September 27th, 2008
Hollywood icon Paul Newman dies at 83
Posted: 10:08 AM ET
(CNN) — Paul Newman, the legendary actor whose steely-blue eyes, good-humored charm and advocacy of worthy causes made him one of the most renowned figures in American arts, has died at his home in Westport, Connecticut. He was 83.

He died of cancer Friday, said spokeswoman Marni Tomljanovic.

Newman attained stardom in the 1950s and never lost the movie-star aura, appearing in such classic films as “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “Exodus,” “The Hustler,” “Cool Hand Luke,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Sting” and “The Verdict.”

He finally won an Oscar in 1986 — on his eighth try — for “The Color of Money,” a sequel to “The Hustler.” He later received two more Oscar nominations. Among his other awards was the Motion Picture Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

McCain Decides to Show Up for Debate

A Newsmax.com article states that Sen. John McCain will be going to Mississippi after all to debate Barack Obama.

"With less than 10 hours until the debate was scheduled to start, the McCain campaign announced that the Arizona senator would travel to the University of Mississippi. The campaign said that afterward McCain would return to Washington to continue working on the financial crisis."

Earlier this morning, I wrote the following comment to a friend: " We can't misunderestimate McCain anymore. Although Obama has more money and the legacy media in his hip pocket, the Republican has been employing tactics and strategy like a good general: he has a grasp as to what the opposition is doing, understands the importance of nimbleness, decisiveness, and surprise, and did an excellent job maintaining secrecy just before he unveiled Gov. Palin as his running mate.... It is ironic that his rival should taunt him for postponing the debate that was supposed to happen today, when Obama went out of his way to avoid debating McCain in the first place."

UPDATE: The first debate has just ended, and I agree with Stephen Green on Pajamas Media that in general, while both candidates sounded alert and well-informed, Sen. McCain had the upper hand, especially on world affairs. Obama spent too much time beating a dead horse (the Bush Administration), trying unsuccessfully to label McCain as "Bush III," and pitting the very rich against the rest of America. McCain focused on his strengths (experience, not being afraid to take unpopular stands, and showing his understanding of world affairs). In my opinion, Obama flip-flopped more often on the issues, while McCain added a human touch to his remarks by using more anecdotes, remembering the name on his bracelet, and describing his own reactions to historic events.

"Peace" Activist Spray-Paints Message of Hate on OIF Vet's Jeep!

This just in from the Dallas Morning News:

11:07 AM CDT on Thursday, September 25, 2008
By JEFF BRADY / WFAA-TV staff

An Army Reserves sergeant studying at Dallas Baptist University was surprised this week to find the message "soldiers are murderers" spray painted on his Jeep Wrangler.

Viktow Whitlow, a junior, had parked his Jeep on the campus at about 2 a.m. Wednesday and returned hours later to find his vehicle's tires had been flattened, the seats slashed and "soldiers are murderers" spray painted in red across the hood.

"It's disheartening to be honest with you," he said. "It's shocking that somebody would write something like that. It just makes me speechless."

Mr. Whitlow, who recently spent two tours in Balad, Iraq, said he has no idea who vandalized his Jeep or why he was targeted.

"I actually worked in a medical treatment facility and we actually saved lives instead of taking them," he said.

Dallas Baptist University is a private liberal arts campus in southwestern Dallas.

"We're surprised, and it causes us to think that this isn't one of our students because it's so out of character," said Mark Hale, dean of students.

While Mr. Whitlow does have insurance, he said he will have to borrow transportation until repairs are made. Damage was estimated at $7,000.

Florida Congressman Equates Hunters with Racism

CNN ran the following story today: Rep. Alcee Hastings told an audience of Jewish Democrats Wednesday that they should be wary of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin because “anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks.”

Reaction to Hastings' remarks along party lines were quite predictable. Republicans were saying, "He's got to be kidding!" or "I thought this came out of The Onion or ScrappleFace.com, not CNN," while Democrats were more inclined to accept what he said at face value.

Celebrate International Disturbed People’s Day

EDITORIAL COMMENT: A true friend sent this to cheer me up, so I decided to compile the expanded remix version based on JibJab.com and other Web sites. Since there is no fixed date for International Disturbed People's Day, you can have more than one of them in a year.

I’m not sure what it says about me, that I was reminded of this fact today by someone who I thought was a close friend, but I feel compelled to pass this message on.

So please send an encouraging message to a disturbed friend today.

I don't care if you lick windows, take the special bus or occasionally pee on yourself… (other telltale signs of Disturbed People include but are not limited to: eating your own boogers, following the crowd when you invest money, worrying about being assassinated even though you’re not important enough to be a target, sniffing your finger every time you scratch the crack of your butt, poor impulse control, or voting for the Democratic candidate).

You hang in there sunshine, you're friggin' special.

Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad, is a full minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Today's Message of the Day is:

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile! Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here, we should dance.

Things look to be crazy until about 9 AM tomorrow, so I wanted to let all my fellow whack-jobs know that I was thinkin' of ya anyway!

There’s a lot more of us than you think…and don’t ever assume that you’re not disturbed!

Obama May Be Chief Beneficiary of Financial Crisis

In an e-mail to a friend yesterday, I had the following comment to make about the proposed $700 billion bailout and related developments:

As a political/news junkie, I have gone ahead and read George F. Will's latest column.

This financial crisis is so wrong on so many levels, and there is plenty of blame to go around. I am aware that the Democrats are ready to exploit the moment when John McCain loses his cool, because that's when he's most likely to expose his vulnerabilities. Even though McCain and President Bush could see it coming and tried to head it off at the pass, the fact that this fiasco broke during a Republican administration creates a golden opportunity for Barack Obama. This puts many conservatives in an uncomfortable position, since I was a Romney booster, and only lately have I endorsed McCain. IMHO, I don't think this problem we have can be solved simply by throwing money at it. With so much at stake, there must be strict controls in place.

UPDATE: It has become necessary to address this hot topic with another issue of "Cutting-Edge Conservatism." If you're not on our mailing list, you can request a copy by writing to me at hammerz at hotmail-dot-com.

To the Third Most Liberal Senator, Laboring in the More Remote Provinces

Even though he receives far less press coverage than either presidential candidate or Gov. Sarah Palin, Joe Biden is still in our thoughts. We believe his position as Barack Obama's running mate is secure for now, since a god doesn't make mistakes!

His Brother's Keeper

Dinesh D'Souza does a favor for George Obama, half-brother of Barack, by raising over $2000 (including $1000 in matching funds out of his own pocket). This is a substantial amount of money by Kenyan standards, and makes you wonder why multi-millionaire Barack Obama hasn't lifted a finger to help out George.

Victor Davis Hanson Strikes Again!

In his latest Pajamas Media essay, "Palin and Obama - What Really Is Wisdom?" Hanson makes a side-by-side comparison between No. 1 on the Democratic ticket and No. 2 on the Republican (who could very well follow in the footsteps of Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus [519 BC – 430 BC?] and return to Alaska once her days in Washington are over). Whether you agree with him or not, he always provides food for thought, and there is a wonderful diversity of reader comments as well.

Patriotism Then and Now

The 1773 model [Boston Tea Party]:

The 2008 model:

“We want to take money [from the wealthy] and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” Democrat vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said in an interview this week on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Talking about the “fundamental differences” between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin, Biden said that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more taxes. “It’s time to be patriotic... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”

UPDATE: Now, according to this Wall Street Journal article, Sen. Biden claims that God is on his side.

Maybe I Was Too Harsh on Sen. Biden

Yes, I am mellowing in my old age, so I feature this Chuck Asay cartoon, in which Joe Biden puts Vice President Cheney to shame as a hunter.

It's Not the First Example of Astroturfing, and It Won't Be the Last

An American Thinker article by Clarice Feldman, "Astroturfing, the New Propaganda Plague" warns about a technique used not only by politicians, but by promoters who want to drum up demand for a particular product or service. The article goes on to say,

"Astroturfing is the attempt to create the feeling of a grassroots movement by planting stories around the web through the use of paid or volunteer spammers."

I recommend that you go ahead and read this informative article. Don't let anyone stampede you into spending your money unwisely or doing something you'll regret!

UPDATE: The latest attempt to generate an "Obama = Messiah" meme with the absurd slogan“Jesus was a community organizer; Pilate was a governor” is apparently an attempt to divert public attention away from his limitations as a leader. If you Google the search terms "Obama crybaby," you will call up at least 236,000 references.

Some More McCain-Palin Cartoons

Heh, Gov. Sarah Palin is more like the "Teflon Lady!"

Bloodthirsty Warmonger Endorses McCain-Palin!

In the course of my election coverage, where I dug up the best available material on all the major (and some minor) candidates, the most vicious and unprovoked attacks came from the right. My position to them has been exactly the same as attacks from the left: just because they turn into moonbats every time they open their mouths doesn't give us the license to sink to their level. As I see it, the system has forced us to choose between Obama and McCain, and while Obama is Jimmy Carter II, there is no guarantee that Ronald Reagan II is waiting in the wings in any of the third-party candidates. The efficient manner in which McCain took out the better-financed Romney organization, and his wisdom in selecting Sarah Palin got my attention, and the discord that lately disturbed the tranquillity of our usually harmonious circle of friends has pushed me off the fence and made me decide to endorse John McCain, mainly because I believe an Obama administration (like Carter's and Clinton's) will be another total disaster for our national defense. Although I respect Col. Riley, I have decided to remove my free advertising for "Patriots Revolt" from this blog so as not to send a mixed signal.

Man Who Threatened to Behead Two Women May Lose Eye

We will have to drag out the World's Smallest Violin for this story out of Colorado Springs:
September 13, 2008 - 10:52PM
THE GAZETTE
A man who threatened to behead two women because they were Christians was attacked in self-defense early Saturday and injured so severely, police say, that his eye was to be removed.

Russell Bowman, who called himself an atheist, showed up with a large knife at the women's apartment in the 700 block of Tia Juana Street about 3:15 a.m., police said.

Another resident grabbed a shotgun and ordered him to put the knife down. When Bowman refused and began approaching, the person hit him with the butt end of the weapon, police said.

Doctors at Memorial Hospital reportedly told police the eye would have to be removed.

Bowman, who lived in the same building, threatened the women a couple of days before the confrontation, Colorado Springs Police Lt. Pat Rigdon said. Alcohol appeared to play a role, he said.

Police will likely pursue charges of felony menacing against Bowman. The investigation will be forwarded to the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office to see if other charges are merited.

Bottom line, this dingleberry was a couple sandwiches short of a picnic, believer or nonbeliever. He should have learned the first rule of coexistence. Just get along. CITIZEN1 is insane! How the hell do you side with the person that started the whole thing up???? He threatened to BEHEAD 2 women just because they were of a different religion than him!!!

How the hell, CITIZEN1, do you say that it's basically wrong for "apartment dwellers" to have guns, but it's okay for some psychopath wanna-be to run around with a large knife threatening to behead women??????????
That does NOT equate!

The guy that had the gun may have been at the apartment to protect the women because of the earlier threats. In my opinion, he showed complete skill and management with a gun not to panic when the psycho lunged at him with the knife, in that he only head-butted him and not shot and killed him.

I wonder how some people sleep at night???????????? Reading about things like this and then the comments where people absolve the assailant and blame the victims....What the hell????

I read this, realize citizen1 is off her meds again, and I just shake my head and consider the source. Yes, I personally am relieved to know apartment dwellers (she says it like it's a disease or something to live in an apartment or because you live in an apartment you can't be trusted with a gun) have guns, especially this apartment dweller. I'll bet the two ladies are as well. Maybe citizen1 would have felt better if the ladies had been injured but was able to say at least no gun was used.

THEN, I read this.......

"As usual, we (newspaper readers) only hear "part" of the story. Do you suppose that maybe, just maybe considering the viciousness and violence (suggested and then actually "displayed" by the knife-wielding, male atheist)....that SUBSTANCE ABUSE could be involved? Perhaps this knife-wielder had had a little too much alcohol and/or drugs to gather the "courage" to come-through on his threat....but, we don't/won't hear about that. People make threats...but oftentimes don't follow-through UNLESS they find "courage" from outside sources (booze, drugs, combo of both.) This story is incomplete....SOMETHING put this knife-wielder into high-enough gear to actually come "in person" with a weapon to follow-through on a very serious threat....Hmmm.....I just wish our City's daily newspaper had the "courage" to give/provide ALL of the or the Full-story..... Who wouldn't be upset with this person? We all are.... "

......... and realize my suspicions that citizen1 is an idiotic moron are well founded and probably a conservative estimate at best. As if under any circumstance the neighbors should have been patient, and it would be all right for this guy to be wielding a knife, heading for the ladies, after making a threat to behead them. To suggest that somehow the incident could be understood or minimized due to Bowman's possible use of alcohol and/or drugs goes beyond ridiculous. Nevermind the fact that the presence and threat of a gun didn't stop bowman. Perhaps everyone should have waited to see if he was serious and would actually attempt it and then, after he began cutting, someone should have reacted with an offer of counseling for the poor soul. As if we give rat's @ss about his circumstances.

I've read some pretty idiotic remarks here, and even made a few myself (hey, nobody's perfect) but these two remarks you made here citizen1 have got to be, hands down, the absolute STUPIDEST remarks anyone here has EVER made. Lady, you are flat out f###ed up and you really need to seek some help.

Shocking News: McCain Not Clueless About Technology

One of the Obama campaign's newest and most tasteless ads illustrates ageism by poking fun at McCain's unfamiliarity with e-mails, overlooking the fact that his war injuries prevent him from using a keyboard without suffering pain. But he is no ignoramus - his fighter pilot experience required a certain degree of technical proficiency, and Slate.com, hardly a bastion of conservative thought, describes how his 2000 campaign pioneered in many of the Internet promotional techniques that are in common use today.

NewsBusters reinforces these points, mentions that Bill Clinton sent out only two e-mails as President, and includes the following comment from a reader:

Insulting our Disabled Veterans
September 13, 2008 - 16:01 ET by oilcan
I'll take this a step further. How dare Obama and his campaign insult, demean and denigrate thousands of our honorable disabled veterans, past and present, with his mockery of Sen McCain's inability to email. I've been around disabled vets who were blind, deaf, physically impaired and they for the most part, functioned quite well. In some or most cases, they excelled beyond those of us who had no disability. I demand that Obama retract this insult and apologize to not only Sen McCain, but to all disabled veterans who served in our armed forces.

Truth-in-Advertising from a Radical Leftist

Melanie Phillips has an eyebrow-raising article in the Spectator (UK), describing the tactics of Saul Alinsky, who was idolized by Barack Obama AND Hillary Clinton. Here are a couple of paragraphs:

The seditious role of the community organiser was developed by an extreme left intellectual called Saul Alinsky. He was a radical Chicago activist who, by the time he died in 1972, had had a profound influence on the highest levels of the Democratic party. Alinsky was a ‘transformational Marxist’ in the mould of Antonio Gramsci, who promoted the strategy of a ‘long march through the institutions’ by capturing the culture and turning it inside out as the most effective means of overturning western society. In similar vein, Alinsky condemned the New Left for alienating the general public by its demonstrations and outlandish appearance. The revolution had to be carried out through stealth and deception. Its proponents had to cultivate an image of centrism and pragmatism. A master of infiltration, Alinsky wooed Chicago mobsters and Wall Street financiers alike. And successive Democratic politicians fell under his spell.

His creed was set out in his book ‘Rules for Radicals’ – a book he dedicated to Lucifer, whom he called the ‘first radical’. It was Alinsky for whom ‘change’ was his mantra. And by ‘change’, he meant a Marxist revolution achieved by slow, incremental, Machiavellian means which turned society inside out. This had to be done through systematic deception, winning the trust of the naively idealistic middle class by using the language of morality to conceal an agenda designed to destroy it. And the way to do this, he said, was through ‘people’s organisations’.

UPDATE: Since Alinsky's book is out of print, we will provide a summary of his rules below. True, they do not provide any guidance as to what to do after coming into power, and sound as though they could have been co-authored by Satan himself, but continue to be popular because they work.

RULE 1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have." Power is derived from 2 main sources - money and people. "Have-Nots" must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: "Never go outside the expertise of your people." It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don't address the "real" issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy." Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity's very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: "A good tactic is one your people enjoy." They'll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They're doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid "un-fun" activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag." Don't become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: "Keep the pressure on. Never let up." Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself." Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists' minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: "If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive." Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management's wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative." Never let the enemy score points because you're caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

Palin Derangement Syndrome (PDS) Strikes Again!

In the short time that Gov. Sarah Palin has been in the national spotlight, she has been making an impact on the lives of many.

Seared in Our Memories

Today is the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, PA. Hard work and cooperation made it possible for the Pentagon to be repaired and a memorial chapel to be dedicated near the crash site in Pennsylvania, but the ongoing effort to build the Freedom Tower and a memorial to the victims of 9/11 is still mired in discord and controversy. A Blog for All will provide coverage of this historic event all day today.

Obama's "Lipstick on a Pig" Gaffe Spreads Far and Wide

Thanks to the miracle of modern communications, whenever someone goofs up big-time, the entire country can hear about it in just a few hours. So it was with Barack Obama's latest swipe at Sarah Palin. Pajamas Media has the story.

John Hawkins at Right Wing News had this to say: "..whether he meant it or not, his comment is fair game just as McCain's '100 years' and McCain's 'houses' comment were fair game for Obama. After pouncing on those rather minor slip-ups, Obama doesn't really have much room to complain about McCain playing the exact same game with him -- plus, he may have actually meant what he said about Palin."

Just When You Thought the Democratic Underground Couldn't Sink Any Lower! (Barf Alert)

(Click on image to enlarge Web page above.)

Even Mafiosi have sense enough to [usually] leave family members of their rivals alone. The Democratic Underground (DU), not known for being paragons of good taste, offered Gov. Sarah Palin's youngest son, Trig, for sale on a faux-eBay Web page on their site. Free Republic has their number, and captured this image before DU's administrators could pull it off, but not before some of their own readers were saying it was tasteless and "over the top." Here are the first three paragraphs of the article:

We keep saying this — and no one seems to listen — but over the course of this campaign, we’ve met about 50 people who worked on McGovern-72, and every one of them said to us, without quivocation, that the main reason McGovern lost to Nixon was McGOVERN’S SUPPORTERS. The way McGovern’s “youth army” behaved, and the terrible things they did in McGovern’s name, worked against their candidate and every day drove more people who would have never voted Republican over to Nixon.

We’ll try to spell this out even more clearly: when people see things like this anti-Palin Ebay stunt, it makes normal people wonder why they would support SoetorObama, if this is what his followers are up to. It makes people who might have pulled the lever for this man question the very act of putting someone like this into office, when these are the types of followers he attracts.

People do not want to be associated with this sort of filth – and the fact that SoetorObama’s campaign doesn’t clamp down hard and stop this sort of daily, vulgar, nastiness says A GREAT DEAL about the person Oprah calls “The One”.

Disturbing Trend

The photo below captures a disturbing trend that is beginning to affect wildlife in the USA .

Animals that were formerly self-sufficient are now showing signs of belonging to the Democratic Party.....as they have apparently learned to just sit and wait for the government to step in and provide for their care and sustenance.

Next, I want equal schooling, housing, medical care, no oil drilling in my den, gun control, support from my babies daddy's, end to emigration controls, reparations, tickets to all Cubs and Bears games...

This bear encroached upon "Argue With Everyone" and other sites; now it has barged in at this blog to present its demands.

An Agonizing Decision

One of our affiliated sites, Independent Patriots for America, has come out in favor of endorsing the McCain-Palin ticket. I know and respect Col. Riley, and recognize that this decision was not undertaken lightly. My previous advice to readers of this blog still stands: become well informed about the issues at stake, vote your consciences, and be careful not to burn your bridges behind you. There are Democrats out there whose values are more like ours than like the radical leftists that hijacked a once-great national party. And it's a little too late to wallow in regret about what should have been done for the 2008 election - we will need to round up as many conservatives as we can to strike back!

Republicans Get Handed a Free Propaganda Coup

Here's a selection of photos I took at the McCain-Palin "Road to Victory" rally at Colorado Springs earlier today. One of the highlights of the event was the delicious opportunity to wave flags that were discarded by the Democrats after their convention.

This is just a small part of the long line of people waiting to get through the security checkpoint and gain admittance to the Colorado Jet Center.

Jet aircraft for John McCain and his entourage.

The candidates and members of the audience were quite pleased with the powerful visual effect of so many American flags.

Camera is pointed to one of the areas reserved for the news media.

Are Candidates Wasting Time and Money on Undecided Voters?

A WebMD article, "The Psychology of the Undecided Voter," boldly declares that candidates such as Barack Obama and John McCain need not pay much attention to undecided voters, and concentrate more on motivating their base.

In Thursday's issue of Science, researchers report that people who think they are undecided about an issue often have made up their mind at an unconscious level.

So while the latest national polls show that between 5% and 15% of Americans still don't know who they will be voting for in November, the percentage of voters who truly are undecided may actually be much smaller, social psychologist Bertram Gawronski, PhD, of the University of Western Ontario tells WebMD.

"It's not that people are lying to the pollsters," Gawronski tells WebMD. "It's that they may not consciously recognize the automatic associations that influence their decisions."

...Gawronski says a version of the automatic mental association test could prove useful to political pollsters for probing the unconscious biases of voters who declare themselves "undecided."

And since many voters who say they are undecided may not be, candidates for elective office may be better off focusing on keeping their declared supporters energized, University of Virginia psychology professor Timothy D. Wilson, PhD, tells WebMD.

"The lore in politics is that campaigns need to target undecided voters," he says. "But this research suggests that it may be much more effective to focus on your base by registering as many people as you can and getting them to vote on Election Day."

Old McCain Gets His Groove Back

(LEFT: Sen. McCain shaking hands en route to his plane. Photo courtesy of Blake Ganyard.)

In the old days, when everyone used to travel by train, this would have been known as a "whistle-stop campaign speech." Only two days after the Republican National Convention ended, around 13 thousand people in Colorado Springs gave Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin a warm welcome at the "Road to Victory" rally. The Republican presidential and vice-presidential candidates departed very little from the speeches they gave at the convention, and produced fellow survivors of the Hanoi Hilton to share stories of teamwork and sacrifice on McCain's part while he was a POW.

UPDATE: The audience was told that thousands of flags being distributed at the rally were rescued from the dumpster immediately after the Democratic National Convention in Denver. FOX News affiliate KXRM has the story. Flags that were unused or returned will spend an honorable retirement decorating veterans' graves at Fort Logan National Cemetery. When the Little Green Footballs blog ran this story, hundreds of readers rushed in with their comments.

UPDATE2: A picture I wish I had taken, from the seats behind the stage at the Jet Center in Colorado Springs, which appeared in Free Republic.

These flags were intercepted as they were about to be thrown away, and distributed to the people attending the McCain-Palin rally. The Democrats reflexively went on the defensive without fully understanding why conservatives are making such a big deal out of this development.

UPDATE3: The Colorado Springs Gazette summarized John McCain's and Sarah Palin's speeches, but forgot to add the fact that selecting her as a running mate has done wonders for attendance at rallies and other public events and contributions to the campaign. We shall know in a few days about her effect on poll numbers.

He Doesn't Get to Play Apollo, But at Least the Party Faithful Are Satisfied

Senator John McCain concluded the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN last night with his acceptance Speech. Townhall.com has the transcript.

Just as Barack Obama has consistently played the race card, McCain has cornered the market when it comes to appealing to patriotism. In Obama's speeches, phrases such as "The Lord has been good to me" or "Only in America can a man born into a despised minority be nominated by a major political party as its candidate for President" are noticeably absent. In contrast, there is this excerpt from last night's speech:

"I’m not running for president because I think I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need. My country saved me. My country saved me, and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God.

"If you find faults with our country, make it a better one. If you’re disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them. Enlist in our Armed Forces. Become a teacher. Enter the ministry. Run for public office. Feed a hungry child. Teach an illiterate adult to read. Comfort the afflicted. Defend the rights of the oppressed. Our country will be the better, and you will be the happier. Because nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause greater than yourself.

"I’m going to fight for my cause every day as your President. I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I’m an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach. Fight with me. Fight with me."

Sarah Wows Republican Convention!

Before a wildly enthusiastic crowd at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska defended her family and record, praised Sen. John McCain, and took several swipes at Sen. Barack Obama, according to FOX News. Some excerpts:

“I’m not a member of the permanent political establishment,” Palin said. “And I’ve learned quickly these past few days that if you’re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.

“But here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion,” she said. “I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country.”

“Here’s how I look at the choice Americans face in this election: In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers, and then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change,” she said.

“I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town,” she said. “Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess, I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.”

MSNBC ran the transcript of the speech here.
