Another Example of "Edifice Complex"


Maybe it's not a coincidence that NATO has a spiffy new $1.3 billion headquarters under construction at a time when more and more people are wondering what it's good for. What is becoming obvious is that the United States cannot afford to support the lion's share of its missions while other members get a free ride on defense expenditures. Fred Kaplan in Slate asks some of these questions in "NATO's Last Mission?"
