Geraldine Ferraro, the first woman vice presidential candidate from a major party, died after a long struggle with cancer, according to an
AFP/Breitbart article. She was paired up with Sen. Walter Mondale, in his ill-fated attempt to challenge Ronald Reagan in 1984. She may go down in history as paving the way for other women, such as Sarah Palin, to run for Vice President in 2008 and be considered a major contender for their party's nomination next year.
