Starting at 2:00 a.m. today the North American Aerospace Defense Command started tracking Santa's progress from the North Pole as he makes his rounds delivering presents to good little boys and girls around the world.

It takes the finest equipment to track his sleigh, which has been calculated to travel at 2,280 miles per second! No taxpayers' money is being used to inform the public: volunteers man the phones and the Web site is paid for with private contributions.
