The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that brother-and-sister fugitives 21-year-old Ryan Edward Dougherty, 26-year-old Dylan Dougherty Stanley and 29-year-old Lee Grace Dougherty were seen buying a tent at the REI store near the intersection of Woodmen Road and Academy Boulevard. The FBI considers this sighting "credible" and sent agents to interview store employees.
Authorities have warned anyone who spots the Doughertys, who have been on the lam since 2 August, not to approach them.
“It’s real simple, these folks are armed and dangerous, Valdosta, Ga., police Cmdr. Brian Childress said Monday. “It sure seems like they have a death wish. We’re just hoping they surrender and they do it peacefully so no one gets hurt....” Whether they follow their mother's request to turn themselves in remains to be seen.
UPDATE: The Denver Post has breaking news about the Dougherty family gang being captured after a high-speed chase on Interstate 25 near Walsenburg.
