Governors Romney and Perry Clash at Reagan Library

FOX News reports that the two leading contenders at this time for the Republican presidential nomination, Gov. Rick Perry and former Gov. Mitt Romney, livened up the debate by exchanging zingers about their success at promoting job creation in their respective states. Calling Social Security a "Ponzi scheme" was probably Perry's most provocative statement. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich's most memorable line was, "I'm frankly not interested in your efforts to get Republicans fighting each other." All of the candidates agreed that Obamacare had to go.

The Daily Mail (U.K.) also covered the debate, declaring that Gov. Perry gave a good account of himself, while Rep. Michele Bachmann "came up short."

In contrast, Jennifer Rubin at the Washington Post was not impressed by Perry's performance in last night's debate, and said that Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann did well.
