The Washington Times has just published an article which describes how China is working on an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) weapon which, if detonated 30-40 kilometers above Taiwan will effectively paralyze any efforts to defend the island from a Chinese invasion by frying the circuits of any electronic devices that the Taiwanese or Americans may have.
"EMP weapons mimic the gamma-ray pulse caused by a nuclear blast that knocks out all electronics, including computers and automobiles, over wide areas. The phenomenon was discovered in 1962 after an aboveground nuclear test in the Pacific disabled electronics in Hawaii...."
